9 Benefits Of Being A Morning Person – No more Mr. Night Owl

Good morning! Do you hear this phrase a lot? You might not hear it a lot if you’re absolutely not a morning person.

You might think that it doesn’t matter when you wake up as long as you get enough quality sleep. But being a night owl is not the healthiest way to live.

I had this bad habit of staying up all night and I could never wake up in the morning. Since we have computers, TVs and smart phones, it’s very easy to get sucked in.

The fact is, most successful people are early birds and that happens for a reason. A morning person is always much more productive and motivated to do something than a night person.

I know, it’s really hard to wake up in the morning. You feel tired and have no will to do anything at all. It’s alright, I’ve been there before.

But it’s not always hard to wake up. Really, it’s easy to wake up in the morning IF you make this a habit. If you keep waking up in the morning at the same time every day, then it will become natural and easy for you to do this.

There are many benefits of being a morning person. If you want to become the greatest version of yourself, I suggest you fix your sleep cycle and develop the habit of waking up early.

Benefits Of Being A Morning Person – Let’s Get Closer To Success!

While becoming a morning person won’t make you a successful person on it’s own, this habit will lead you towards other great habits that will bring you closer to a successful life!

Developing this habit might not be easy if you stay up late all the time, because you will have to go to bed earlier than usual. It might also take a few hours before you fall asleep, but it only happens for the first few nights. I promise!

And after you see all these amazing benefits, I’m sure you will have more motivation to start waking up earlier!

1. Boost Your Productivity!

Early risers are much more productive throughout the day. This happens, because you have much more time on your hands to do what you want.

If you develop this habit, your performance at work or school will increase as well. Studies show that students who wake up early in the morning have better grades than the others.

It could be happening, because those who wake up early probably get much more quality sleep than those who stay up all night.

Rising early makes you feel more energetic and removes the “brain-fog” that you have when you wake up without a regular sleep cycle.

It makes your brain function faster and better. Stupid decisions made! NO MORE feeling miserable and tired! NO MORE bad grades!

Okay, all these could still happen… But being an early bird will reduce the chances of these things happening!

More time to exercise

2. More Time To Exercise!

Exercising in the morning has many benefits on its own!

  • Lose more weight
  • No interruptions
  • Improve sleep quality
  • Eat healthier
  • More productive
  • Be happier
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Improve brain function
  • Reduce stress and anxiety

Waking up early allows you to get done with your exercising plans right away. Most people who exercise in the morning usually find it easier to stay consistent and exercise regularly.

If you always exercise in the evening, you might find that your daily life throws everything at you and takes away your time to workout a lot of times.

You fail to exercise regularly, because there’s so many things that can distract you from it throughout the day. For example, your friends might INSIST that you go to a bar with them and drink a beer (Or two… Or three!).

You can’t say no to that, CAN YOU? So you forget about exercising and tell yourself that you’ll do it tomorrow. If you can wake up early in the morning, nothing will distract you from getting it done right away.

And you will still have time to spend with your friends in the evening! It’s a win-win situation.

3. Become More Positive

If you’re a night owl, you will know what I’m talking about. I used to be annoying by every little thing when I had to wake up to school.

Even if people didn’t talk to me, I was annoyed just by looking at them. I sometimes used words that some people never even heard of before (BAD WORDS).

And I wasn’t very positive throughout the day, because I started it with a very negative vibe. Trust me, it didn’t do any good for me.

I always went to bed very late and didn’t get enough sleep, so I guess it made me really angry! Once I began to fix my sleep cycle, I wasn’t so negative anymore.

Waking up early doesn’t feel like a chore any longer and I’m full of positive thoughts just as I open my eyes.

And in case you were wondering, the rest of the day is also full of positive thoughts!

If you’re always sad and gloomy, becoming an early riser will definitely make your life AT LEAST a little bit happier.

More free time

4. Be More Organized

You might come up with new plans or goals that you will start doing tomorrow. Then you wake up and all of those plans and goals disappear, because you have to go to work or school.

All the motivation and energy towards those ideas simply vanish into thin air.

It happens all the time, because life is hard and you realize that the second you wake up.

“It’s too hard to reach any of my goals, because I have no time, life is too hard!”. That was a common “word combination” that I used mostly every day.

When you start waking up early, there’s so much time on your hands. You can plan your day ahead and think about your goals.

It’s way better to get motivated about your goals right when you wake up, rather than at the evening. There’s simply more chance you’ll actually do something productive.

5. Reduce Stress!

Most people like to wake up as late as possible just to barely make it to work or school. You might think that those extra 15-20 minutes of sleep will help you wake up feeling less tired or less stressful.

But what actually happens is, you’re always in a hurry, because you woke up “a bit” too late. That puts extra stress on your mind. You’re constantly worrying if you’re not going to be late.

Everything starts to go wrong. You didn’t have enough time to comb your hair, the car doesn’t start, you’re stuck in traffic and all you can think of is stressful thoughts.

If you develop the habit of waking up early, you won’t have to worry about being late. You will be ahead of everyone else. While someone is just waking up (and struggling to do that), you’re already awake, full of energy and ready to get closer to your goals!

Mental health is a BIG part of your life, so take action to remove all the worries and stressful situations from your life…

Take it easy!

6. It Helps You Relax More…

Waking up before the rest of the world is a great way to relax your mind before you begin your day.

Personally, I meditate first thing in the morning as I wake up. It clears my mind completely and it helps me to control stressful situations. Also, I always get this warm feeling that everything is going to be amazing and nothing will worry me.

Meditation is a great habit with many beautiful benefits on its own, such as:

  • Improved concentration and focus
  • Memory boost
  • Reduced stress and anxiety
  • Increased creativity
  • Weight loss
  • Better immunity system
  • More energy and motivation
  • And the list could go on!

But, you don’t necessarily need to meditate when you wake up. You can still feel relaxed just by being a morning person.

You will have so much time to do whatever you like. Everyone is still sleeping, nothing is bothering you, so just have fun and chill!

I really enjoy the quiet time in the morning. It allows me to focus on my thoughts and re-discover myself. The inner peace that I get in the morning makes the rest of the day much more peaceful.

I would never throw that away! And come to think of it, I would never have this if I was a night person… Can’t imagine how would it feel…

Oh wait, I know how it feels, because I’ve already been a night owl before!

7. Fall Asleep Quicker!

To become a morning person, you will need a regular sleep cycle. This means that you will be going to bed at the same time every day.

When you start doing that, it will become really easy to fall asleep. Your body will know when it should shut off and when to turn on.

Falling asleep can be quite the task for some people, especially if the person is always staying up late and goes to sleep at random times.

And it becomes a really BIG struggle. It might even put additional stress upon you, because it really annoys you. I know, I’ve been there before and it sucks.

If you struggle to fall asleep every night, then you should check out this article on how to fall asleep quicker.

Morning people are sexier!

8. Appear More Attractive!

If you’re always waking up feeling tired and gloomy, most likely that’s how everyone will see you as well. They will see you as an unhealthy person.

When I was a night owl and had terrible mornings, some people asked me questions like: “Hey, did you drink last night? Are you on a hangover or something?” “Hey, did someone punch you in the face 9000 times repeatedly?”.

Okay, the last one might be a lie but you get the point. I felt horrible and that’s how other people saw me as well.

If you don’t find yourself attractive, others can’t either. Becoming an early bird will help you feel better about yourself and boost your confidence.

I’m pretty sure you want to feel sexier, don’t you? So wake up early and become sexy like a unicorn!

9. You Will Feel Proud Of Yourself!

Like I’ve said, becoming a morning person is not an easy task for most people, mainly because the night part of the day takes over our lives

But once you actually develop the habit of waking up early, you will feel really proud of yourself. It will simply make you feel good.

You’ll notice how your life is changing for the better. It will make you feel like you’re on top of the world achieving your goals while everyone else is still sleeping.

Trust me, it’s a good feeling and it DOES improve your life.

So, make yourself proud… Make the night owl version of yourself feel jealous about you!

Make Changes Today!

It takes time and dedication to change your lifestyle. You might find it really hard to change specific parts of your life, because you have been doing it for your whole life.

But always look at the bigger picture… If something you do, does not make you grow, should you be doing it? Does it only bring you down every day?

One thing for sure, being a night person is definitely bringing you down EVERY DAY.

Don’t make the same mistake that I’ve made for the majority of my life. Sleeping is a huge part of our lives and waking up early is connected to that.

You have to get those 2 things right if you want to improve your lifestyle.

Now that you know the benefits of being a morning person, it would be CRAZY if you didn’t even try to become one, wouldn’t it?

Don’t say you’ll do this tomorrow, next week or next month… Just start doing it today or you’ll never do it!

I guess it was Benjamin Franklin who once said: “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a men healthy, wealthy, and wise”. There must be something to it. I am personally not a morning person. Have tried for that habit for a long time and eventually gave in:-(

Now, with small children it seems even harder, especially when one of your children isn’t a good sleeper. He wakes early, doesn’t go to bed early. So you definitely want to get some things done in the evening after he went to bed, because the next day he will wake as soon as you wake and let it be 5 am.

However, I think it comes down to what you stated, you need to make that a habit and tune your body up for it, then it works. I am not a night owl, but dont go to bed too late, but yeah in the morning I am commonly a little bit stressed, especially because time to prepare good food is not available when you are too late.

I enjoyed your article and it reminded me of some things that I need to take care of.

There’s definitely truth to the quote: “early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise”.

Sometimes it’s hard to become a morning person depending on your situation in life, but if you make this a daily habit, it becomes much easier to do.
